Ani Walking (Back Dated Feb 10th)

Ani will only walk if you sing the itsy bitys spider to her, Though this may sound cute the song becomes old quite fast.

do babies do this at 13 months?

daredevil Ani

so by now you have no doubt heard about our fearless daughter, climbing slides at a year, climbing anything and everything she can conquer, barely walking, yet that doesn't stop her, so here was Ani back before the holidays, you can only imagine what she is up to now

this is supposed to be a push or ride on toy, not a stand in toy - and yet, what is Ani doing?

climbing in the seat and honking the horn

riding backward and shaking the train to get it to move

standing on the seat

the rest is so terrifying we can't even show you, you'll sleep better at night not knowing, trust us

on a lighter note - Ani's been practicing CPR on the cat, we have no doubt that she'll one day save lives with skills like that

Ani's snow adventure

beautiful, isn't it, who doesn't love snow?  Well, let me confess that after 6 days, trapped at our house, with a one-year old, I'm not such a big fan anymore.  You see, those lovely trees, provide tons of shade, which means, snow doesn't melt, ever.

And on the second day, there was playing in the snow.  Can you tell who is more excited?  As an aside, when we were offered a pink snow suit from our cousin, in the middle of August, I was not thrilled, "when does it snow enough in Georgia to even necessitate such an outfit?"  I'm now a believer, because what a wonderful idea - although, as you will notice, we lacked shoes...

"Yay snow, what a new and exciting experience," Ani exclaims in a wry voice.

"hmm, guys..."

"no really, come help, I'm sort of stuck"

"do you see the 'pouty face,' I'm really stuck, and cold"

"sadness, is reigning over here"

"no, wait, pick me up, save me from this frozen wasteland"

"I'll just become one with the snow"

"Is that daddy dancing over there, or am I hallucinating?"

"nope, that really was dad"

alright guys, this is your first lesson in Ani artwork:
look what I made fill in your name!  Isn't it beautiful!!!

and for those of you who still need more practice, that's Ani's first snow angel

where's waldo, and what is he doing?

yes, that's right, sledding down the little hill in our yard

it's like the winter olympics, well sort of

"Ummmm??  Guys there's a crazy person in the yard!"

Ani's Belated Birthday

So this is the begining of a very fattening tradition.  These are just a few of the many cakes that Ani received on her birthday and it didn't help that Publix had a deal for a Free First Birthday Cake.

Ani's first experience with strawberries, Chiemi was terrified that Ani would have an allergic reaction.
(yes, trying to delicately extract a candle from Ani's mouth after eating the icing)

She didn't

the free publix cake - and first birthday onesie

yum, Ani eating cake

and sharing the cake after licking off all of the icing

"So big!"

it wouldn't be Ani's birthday unless we had a snowstorm

left-over Christmas

So, let's start with an apology, that it's March and we are finally posting the rest of the holiday pictures.  Things have been hectic would be an understatement, some of which will become evident in the following images/posts.

yes, this is the quintessential baby picture...

Ani with Mary - I have to confess that Ani at this age brings back memories of Mary, many many years ago, I feel like an old lady, or god forbid, a mother, reminiscing about babies growing up into little women.

the Stedman family Christmas, aren't Grand-daddy and Ani cute together

I'm not sure if the same could be said for Uncle Nathan and Ani

Oh, and Great Grandma Gerry and her newest great grand-babies

 this was inevitable, wasn't it

so this is the first of the many unfortunate events that befell our household since the new year:

I know it looks like just a little tree, but when you see the fence and the neighbor's fence, it is quite tragic
yeah, it's like, "where's waldo," but different...
