Hey everyone,
Well this week has been a bit hectic, Ani hasn't been gaining as much weight as we and the Pediatrician would like so we saw a lactation consultant that informed us that our daughter has a posterior tongue tie. What this means is that she is unable to lift her tongue to the roof of her mouth. While this problem does not affect bottle feeding babies, breast fed babies are a totally different issue. The tongue tie stops the tongue from forming the correct shape to extract the right amount of milk. Furthermore you should know that Ani was not starving or withering away she was just maintaining her weight and due to this correction and a new feeding schedule she in now gaining weight.
Other news, Ani has started using her hands to hold in her pacifier and bottle, though she doesn't grab them she uses her arm and hand as a way if stopping things from falling our of her mouth.
not much else is happening but we will keep yall up to date.
love yall
Ian, Chiemi and Ani
